Roller shutter

by Mark Rowe

An LPS1175 Issue 7, Level 4 certified, security rated shutter door, the Rolegard-Security SR4 from Gilgen Door Systems, is now available with optional stainless steel lath profiles adding corrosion resistance.

Gilgen Door Systems provided a demonstration of the Rolegard SR4 security shutter on stand K51 at Counter Terror Expo 2014 alongside a range of products.

The Swiss company says that its Rolegard security shutters comply with insurance, ‘Police Preferred’ and ‘Secured by Design’ standards and can be used as a stand-alone system or integrated into a more layered security solution. Designed and made in the UK to help mitigate security threats by target hardening buildings from possible break-in or hostile attack, the range consists of three models, SR2, SR3 and SR4 which can be tailored to customer needs including fitment of hardened profiles and thermal / acoustic insulation.

The heavy duty SR3 and SR4 models also feature hurricane rated wind resistance profiles suitable the makers add for exposed locations. Thermal insulation ranges from 3.8w/m2/k to 4.4 w/m2/k, acoustic sound reduction up to 35db and blast resistance is up to 100 kpa, depending on the model. All models are electrically operated and feature optional security tested automatic bolts and rapid operation on selected models.
Tested by BRE (Building Research Establishment) against anti-jacking, prising, gouging, impact, cutting and drilling, Rolegard shutters achieve LPS1175 issue 7, security rating 2, 3 and 4. This means they have passed a test which simulates a sustained attack using a variety of tools. The shutters are the firm adds suitable for securing high value ‘at-risk’ facilities such as utilities, cash handling, bonded warehousing, banks, museums, military and government buildings.

Gilgen Door Systems offers secured access solutions including security shutters, personnel doors and automatic doors for industrial or commercial facilities. Contact 0800 316 6994 or visit www.gilgendoorsystems.co.uk.
