OPTEX EMEA at Security Essen

by Mark Rowe

OPTEX EMEA will be showing its range of intrusion detection and perimeter protection sensors at the Security Essen exhibition, supported by its German office staff.

The sensor manufacturer’s stand will show applications for its intelligent intrusion sensors, as well as demonstrating how they can aid overall effectiveness and reliability of CCTV and integrated security systems.

From its residential portfolio, OPTEX will exhibit its recently launched Shield series of outdoor PIRs. Shield motion sensors offer a choice of face covers to blend with a building’s aesthetics. The Shield range includes the VX Shield, a volumetric 12m 90 degree series and the BX Shield, a 12m each side curtain PIR series. While the first series will detect people approaching the premises, the other will detect people being right against the premises – looking through window or patio doors.

Also on show, OPTEX’s new 180 degree outdoor PIRs, the WXI series. OPTEX will also be showcasing its multi-layered intrusion detection for commercial premises and critical infrastructure sites. It will demonstrate, for example, how a fenced perimeter can be protected using fibre optic sensors from a group company, FiberSensys. Or, ‘virtual’ perimeter walls can be generated by using its REDSCAN laser-scan detectors; the newly launched RLS-3060SH version 8 enables detection up to 100m in vertical mode.

To protect the approaches to a building, OPTEX will be demonstrating its long-range motion sensors, the SIP series, capable of detecting objects within an area of 100x4m or 50x30m and providing three independent zones to drive cameras positions. The new version of the RLS-3060 LiDAR has more application specific modes and has extended its range for a pre-warning zone beyond a 30m radius up to 50m. For asset protection, and particularly to protect high-value or potentially hazardous items, the high resolution REDSCAN RLS-2020 can create a virtual shield that will detect something as small as a child’s hand.

Masaya Kida, Managing Director of OPTEX EMEA, says: “Since the opening of our German office last September, opportunities within the region have been increasing and we look forward to exhibiting at Essen and meeting our customers to discuss potential projects. The wider European team will be on the stand, including the sales team from Benelux and Eastern Europe, Nordics, and our EMEA product, technical and marketing managers.

“Our sensors are part of an overall security solution; we hope to show visitors how our different sensing technologies can be used for a variety of applications,” he adds. “Some sensors, such as our LiDAR products – the REDSCAN series, are highly versatile and reliable, even in the most challenging outdoor conditions.”

OPTEX sensors are becoming integrated with VMS platforms, such as Genetec’s. OPTEX will also be exhibiting on Genetec’s stand – Hall 5, stand 5G30 as part of their technology partner pavilion.
