Gate Safe goes overseas

by Mark Rowe

Gate Safe takes its campaigning overseas when the founder of the charity, Richard Jackson, delivers a presentation on automatic gate safety at Perimeter Protection 2014, in Germany.

Now in its third year, the Perimeter Protection 2014 trade fair runs from January 14 to 16 in Nuremburg, a specialist exhibition for perimeter protection, fencing systems and building security. The event welcomed 2,154 visitors in 2012 and Gate Safe will be contributing to the Perimeter Protection Specialist Forum, where speakers offer insights into security systems and perimeter protection to the audience attending the show.

Richard Jackson, who will be speaking at 2pm on Wednesday, January 15, said: “To date, Gate Safe has largely focused its communication on the UK but this specialist trade show provides an ideal vehicle to extend our messaging to reach an international audience of professionals associated with the perimeter protection and access control sector. Interpretation of the EU Machinery Directive may differ in Europe but a number of the fundamental principles remain the same and as a charity we are already aware of a number of incidents outside of the UK relating to a failure to adopt the appropriate protocol to ensure a compliant and safe installation. We hope that by attending this event, we can share our understanding of best practice and encourage an enhanced awareness of the importance of improving standards in automated gate safety – and ultimately reduce the risk of any further accidents occurring.”
