by Mark Rowe

The Cumbernauld-based security systems installers VWS have appointed their first dedicated salesperson. Richard Barnes has joined the Scottish specialists in Internet Protocol (IP) networked CCTV systems, as their first full time sales manager. He has 17 years of sales experience.

Richard will be spending most of his time on the road, providing sales and consultancy services to new customers, plus numerous councils and privates businesses already using the company.

Richard, pictured, said: “VWS is fast growing, with an impressive history and a depth of knowledge and expertise. I am looking forward to becoming part of the team, and familiarising myself with the new technology, consultancy services and systems that I will be offering businesses in Scotland and beyond.”

Graham Wilson, managing director of VWS Ltd, said: “Richard comes to us with a sterling pedigree of sales expertise in complex and technical fields, and I am delighted to welcome him aboard, and look forward to working with him. VWS is a fast growing company, and I am enthusiastic about expanding further across Scotland. I want VWS to be the name on everyone’s lips when they think of intelligent building systems.”

Richard previously worked in sales for such companies as Lumaglass and Peak Scientific Instruments, giving him a technical background. He has experience also in service and maintenance contracts and e-Procurement, having worked with Excitech and Invitrogen.

VWS recently received national recognition for its commitment to apprenticeships and employing young people through the Investors in Young People award. Visit www.vwsip.co.uk.
