PoE recorder

by Mark Rowe

VIVOTEK has launched its ND8422P Power over Ethernet (PoE) network recorder.

With the full-features of a Linux- embedded system, this new NVR supports up to 16 channels of network cameras, and comes with eight built-in PoE complaint ports. This connectivity means users can connect cameras to the recorder without any extra hardware, the Taiwanese network CCTV product company says. The new NVR is also equipped with a fisheye network camera de-warping function, which makes it suitable the firm says for applications such as shops, restaurants, and supermarkets.

The makers offers not only the eight-channel ND8322P, but also a 16-channel ND8422P recorder. Both NVRs fully support the de-warping function for fisheye IP cameras directly from the NVR, allowing areas of interest to be displayed in detail. They also feature I/O ports, as well as providing flexibility to connect with external storage equipment via the eSATA port and thus further enlarge the recording capacity.

VIVOTEK points to the “One Button Setup” function, whereby users can plug-and-play the IP cameras; configuration will be set automatically, at installation. The NVR is also fitted with an “Auto Adaptive Stream”; the resolution of the camera will adjust its display resolution automatically for each different layout type.

The recorder is fully integrated with VAST, VIVOTEK’s own suite of free central management software. Users can manage multiple ND8422P recorders and set up their IP system. Moreover, with the rapid growth of smart phone functionality, demand for the ability to remotely monitor assets has also grown the firm adds. By downloading the EZConnect APP and scanning an on-screen QR code, business owners can access and manage their surveillance system from any iOS or Android device at any time, from anywhere.
