The high-definition (HD) and megapixel video product manufacturer Avigilon has introduced LightCatcher technology to its camera line-up. To be demonstrated at ASIS 2013, the Canadian company’s LightCatcher provides a way to capture evidentiary colour detail in extreme low-light the firm says. This helps identify objects of interest more in challenging lighting, such as in restaurants, bars, hotels, parking lots, and alleys.
Ian Povey, director of product marketing and management at Avigilon, said: “Capturing clear, color detail is important where security is a concern, regardless of lighting conditions. Being able to identify the color of a vehicle or the clothing of a suspect can be the difference in an investigation. With the introduction of our innovative LightCatcher technology, we continue our commitment to bring the best evidence to the industry.” By increasing the amount of light and detail captured via the camera and decreasing the noise in the image, LightCatcher produces it is claimed more detail in colour from a low-light scene than any other technology. This combination results in the ability to identify objects of interest more effectively.
Avigilon cameras with LightCatcher are available with the following features:
•1.3MP HD and HD dome cameras
•3-9mm F1.2 lens
•H.264 and motion JPEG compression
•Automatic removable IR cut filter
•Power over Ethernet, 24 VAC or 12 VDC power input
