Short-range ground based radar

by Mark Rowe

Three years ago Ogier Electronics, the microwave transmission equipment company, started to develop a short-range ground based radar to provide the security industry with a product for integration into CCTV systems.

Using the licence exempt 24 GHz band the Scan-360 radar, pictured, is now entering volume production having been tested across Europe and the United Arab Emirates. Mark Rainbow, Sales and Marketing Director for Ogier Electronics stresses that the unit has been designed to operate in a wide variety of climate conditions and applications such as perimeters of critical national infrastructure, industrial estates and car compounds.

Mark said: “We’ve had excellent feedback from security companies who have tested the unit in live situations using a variety of our technical partner camera and VMS to complement the radar and that convinced us to enter volume production. Enhancements to the user interface over the coming months will allow early adopters to update software and functionality.“

The Scan-360 radar is designed to work with analogue and hybrid cameras. A complete IP-compatible product is being evaluated and if sufficient interest is encountered will be the next product in the radar family, the firm adds.
