NVRs with BCDVideo video processing

by Mark Rowe

A new series of network video recorders (NVRs) from Wavestore is using video processing technology from the US firm BCDVideo. Available from all Wavestore Authorised Distributors and Partners, the WR-Series NVRs have been engineered for processing and storage of video and are the makers say a complement for Wavestore’s video management software (VMS).

The WR-Series, which is powered by Dell EMC, features the latest Intel Xeon processors, with RAID capabilities, redundant power supplies on most models and worldwide remote secured system management. These systems also include enterprise grade hard drives.

Julian Inman, Head of Product Management for Wavestore said: “We are pleased to have been able to form a technology and supply partnership with BCDVideo who have an excellent reputation for coping with the exacting demands of Enterprise level video surveillance applications. Our confidence in the reliability and effectiveness of the WR-Series is underpinned by a five-year warranty which includes next day on-site hardware support services as standard to carry out activities such as replacing faulty in-warranty hard drives and, for enhanced data security, this includes data media retention, leaving any replaced hard drive on the premises for proper customer disposal. An optional four-hour response service in metropolitan areas is also available for mission-critical sites.”

The WR-Series NVRs are available in rack-mountable 64, 128 and 254 channel versions and are designed to offer reliable recording, management and control for medium to large size video surveillance projects, the developers say.

•WR14: Accommodating up to 4 of the 3.5-inch hard drives in a 1U chassis to provide up to 32TB of storage; users can typically expect 31 days continuous real-time recording from 54 Full HD cameras.

•WR212: with RAID and dual redundant power-supply as a standard for fault-tolerance, WR 28 NVRs can take up to 12 3.5-inch hot swappable hard drives to provide up to 96TB of storage. Users can typically expect 31 days of continuous real-time recording from more than 120 Full HD cameras.

•WR216: Accommodating 4 internal and up to 12 3.5-inch hot swappable hard drives in a 2U chassis to provide a capacity of up to 128TB of storage, WR216-Series NVRs also come with RAID and dual redundant power-supply, for fault-tolerance. Users can typically expect 31 days of continuous real-time recording from more than 200 Full HD cameras.

Eugene Kozlovitser, BCDVideo’s Technology Director, said: “Working with Wavestore’s engineers on the design of the recording servers gave BCDVideo the ability to bring an innovative integrated solution into their product portfolio. Purpose-built for Wavestore, this joint technology helps to ensure the WR-Series will be the best performing system for their customers’ physical security needs.”

Wavestore add that their WR-Series complements other NVRs and HVRs from Wavestore; the series also comes with the option to upgrade or expand channels at any time, without having to reinstall the VMS software.
