Integrated Systems

High definition video

by Mark Rowe

New from Exacq Technologies, part of Tyco, is Illustra Edge, a high definition video system combining an Illustra IP camera, pre-installed exacqVision video management system (VMS) software and SD storage. That provides everything needed to connect and auto-configure in minutes, the multi-national says.

For a small installations of up to ten cameras, or remote sites where server hardware installations are impractical, this provides a means to deploy a high-definition IP video system without separate server hardware installation and configuration costs, since the server software and video storage is on the camera. You mount the camera, connect and start monitoring live and recorded video. Illustra Edge comes with a server license. For larger applications, a license upgrade to exacqVision Edge+ allows unlimited servers. Users have the ability to view live or recorded video from mulitple Illustra Edge devices or server-based recorders simultaneously. The VMS software allows users to export video search results, display alarm events on screen and get replay of video and audio events.

Steve Carney, Senior Director, of Product Marketing, Video and Integrations, Tyco Security Products, said: “This is a complete solution for customers looking to create their own video surveillance solution without added costs from investing in of servers and complex installations. Whether it’s a small business or retail store, or someone who needs to supplement their enterprise system because of remote locale or intermittent wireless coverage, the Illustra Edge solution can be deployed to fit their needs.”

Illustra Edge is available in three camera models: the Illustra Pro 5MP Fisheye, the Illustra Pro 2MP Compact Mini-Dome and Illustra Pro 2MP Compact Mini-Bullet. The Illustra Edge fisheye camera has in-camera dewarping offering real-time 180 degree /360 degree panoramic views or a quad view delivering four independent 4×3 normalised video streams.
