Encryption device

by Mark Rowe

Airbus Defence and Space has launched their latest high grade encryption device. Ectocryp Yellow is Airbus Defence and Space’s next stage in sovereign UK cryptographic development and uses CESG’s preferred solution for network layer cryptography (PRIME Suite A). The Airbus Defence and Space family of Ectocryp cryptographic devices now includes this portable device. Ectocryp Yellow is a desktop, interoperable basis for secure strategic and tactical networks.

The software can be updated in the field and upgrades can be performed remotely for deployed units. The makers say Ectocryp Yellow eliminates the overhead of crypto on a network and provides transparent operation to users. Ectocryp Yellow has received full certification under the CAPS1 (CESG Assisted Products Service) from the UK National Authority.

Airbus Defence and Space cryptography solutions facilitate the protection of sensitive data for all organisations. The core product in the Ectocryp family is Blue, which is Europe’s only HAIPE-certified remotely operated cryptographic device. The Ectocryp Blue solution can transfer information classified up to Top Secret across public networks allowing organisations to minimise the risk of cyber attack. The Ectocryp family includes versions that are being exported to countries from the USA to the Middle East.

(HAIPE = High Assurance Internet Protocol Encryptor.)

(CAPS service evaluates encryption devices against UK Government cryptographic standards for use by UK Government and other appropriate bodies for data classified up to UK Top Secret. )
