Trevor Dyson joins Axis Security

by Mark Rowe

Trevor Dyson, former Head of Counter Terrorism for the City of London Police, has joined the manned guarding company, Axis Security, as a consultant to offer specialist counter terror expertise.

Trevor, pictured, spent most of his policing career in detective, intelligence and counter terror areas, moving into counter terror in 1999; a time of domestic extremism, riots and protests, and when the primary terror threat was from Irish republicans. He spent the last 18 months of a 30-year career with the City of London Police as its Head of Counter Terror, putting him in a public facing role, sharing message about threats, intelligence and working with such partners as security companies, and building security managers.

Trevor says: “Businesses can help others in their locality by sharing knowledge and experience to better protect everyone in our communities. People look to security officers as experts in their field,” he says, “and they can help people with what to look for when it comes to criminal or terrorist activity – encouraging them to use crime stoppers and the counter terror hotline. We all have a part to play in protecting ourselves.”

Among Trevor’s first tasks is to review the training and support given to Axis’ officers in counter terror, and work with the recently-launched Axis Academy to explore further training and workshops that could be delivered to businesses. He said: “Axis Security has a good presence in the guarding sector with a strong reputation and with the professional training support from The Axis Academy it is well placed to help make a difference.”

David Mundell, Managing Director for Axis Security, says: “We are always searching for ways to add more value to the services we offer our customers and demonstrate that our officers are trained to deal with the widest form of threats. This partnership gives our customers access to expert knowledge that can be used to make fundamental changes to detecting risk and keeping people safe.”
