Stewarding recruitment

by Mark Rowe

The event security and stewarding contractor Showsec has begun 2015 by launching a recruitment campaign. From Aberdeen to Southampton on the south coast, the crowd management and event security firm report work available to stewards or SIA-badged staff.

Leicester-based Showsec provide their services at more than 450 venues over the year and at the height of last summer’s busiest period they provided 3250 staff for the third stage of the Tour de France’s Grand Depart, making it the biggest single working day in the company’s history, pictured. All of the job vacancies are available on the Showsec website, but the recruitment campaign encompasses everything from national and regional advertising to social media.

Dani Whiting, Showsec’s Recruitment Manager, says: “There are many exciting opportunities to join our team and be part of events throughout the year, but this is also an important step in our development of a workforce that needs to be in place for the major events in the summer. Therefore, as well as the vacancies which need to be filled at local level, there is the chance to form part of the teams which are put in place for national events such as the festivals taking place all over the country from T in the Park in Scotland to Bestival on the Isle of Wight.

“Not only do these represent some good earning opportunities for casual workers, there is also the potential for this to be the first step on a career pathway with the company. We are committed to making considerable investment in training and development at Showsec and this gives workers a chance to fulfil their potential with us.”
