Securitas awards

by Mark Rowe

Due to COVID-19, the security contractor Securitas was unable to host its usual black tie gala for the finalists in its annual Community Awards. Some ten categories covered outstanding act, leadership, team, safety first, innovation, community, helpfulness, vigilance, integrity and core values.

This year’s finalists were all quarterly Community Award winners and came from hundreds of nominations, judged by panels of Securitas staff. Securitas also launched a Safe Driver Award, and introduced the Securitas UK Country President Award to mark achievements by teams or individuals across the business.

While the pandemic did not allow a physical gathering, every winner was presented with their award and prizes at their workplace by a senior member of management.

Winners included colleagues who used their quick thinking and training to save lives and protect their client’s businesses, keeping staff and members of the public safe. Many used their protective services expertise to exceed their client’s expectations, including a team whose vigilance protected a client location classified as a critical national security site.

Shaun Kennedy, Securitas UK Country President, pictured, said: “Every year we recognise and celebrate how our officers help make the world a safer place. This year, the role of security professionals, and particularly our front line officers has never been more important; the breadth of their knowledge and the skills they employ, has kept millions of people safe as we have navigated our way through the challenges of lockdown. I am exceptionally proud of our employees who really do go over and above in the jobs they do.”
