Pitch shortlist

by Mark Rowe

Kurt Davis has been selected as one of the 160 businesses through to the next round of the UK and Ireland’s biggest pitch competition.

The shortlisted businesses – those who earned the highest number of public votes – will now take part in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for Longest business pitch marathon on June 1 and 2, 2016. The 29 hour live-streamed event will see Kurt Davis pitch back-to-back against 159 other entrepreneurs to a panel of judges. Judges will be challenged to whittle these down to 40 semi-finalists who could go on to pitch to Richard Branson and business people Tyra Banks, Sara Blakely and Marcus Butler, in the VOOM 2016 grand finale on June 28.

Kurt Davis says: “I am extremely pleased at the support SECURIST has received from the local Bristol community meaning we are through to the next round and on to the Pitchathon. When I started SECURIST seven years ago I never imagined how quickly the business would grow, so taking part in something as big as the VOOM competition has been a challenging yet exciting experience. SECURIST is continually striving to help protect our customer’s property and assets but with crime and terrorism increasing some businesses do not know the correct way to respond to this. We aim to take the stress away by offering a free consultation that consists of a comprehensive threat to site report, as we are a one stop shop of all security services we are able to work with the client to fully cover the site. With the chance to pitch to industry professionals I hope to gain the exposure to continue expanding SECURIST.”

Sir Richard Branson says: “Virgin Media Business VOOM 2016 is all about seeking out, supporting and celebrating the UK’s and Ireland’s most exciting businesses. It’s the biggest and most valuable pitch competition out there – we’re hoping everyone will find a way to get involved!”
