Hobbycraft national contract

by Mark Rowe

The retail chain Hobbycraft has selected Brooknight Security for a national manned guarding contract. The award is for all retail and ad hoc manned guarding requirements in the craft retailer’s stores across the UK; and the deployment of store detectives in selected locations.

Brooknight reports that it began working with Hobbycraft some months ago on several projects. After a competitive tender process, Brooknight won the contract and will start the mobilisation process in July.

Jim Moyes, Brooknight CEO, said: ‘The decision by Hobbycraft to award its business to Brooknight is fantastic. This award will bring another quality brand to our retail portfolio and with the initiatives that we will deliver, I know that we will make a real difference to Hobbycraft through excellent service and added value.’

Meanwhile at the back end, Brooknight is progressing with its Octopus software for officers to report incidents such as shoplifting, civil recovery cases, health and safety, equipment defects and any number of security related matters using a tablet or mobile phone; and the guarding firm works with Experian to streamline its screening and vetting processes and with Innovise on its ‘Engagement App’. Octopus means that the guard firm has analytical tools to review incidents and deploy officers more carefully; and clients can see what’s happening at their stores. Brooknight, with head office in Edenbridge in Kent, also has a Bletchley control centre. The company specialises in retail security and also has a contract with among others the high street fashion retailer Primark.
