Environmental standard

by msecadm4921

Ward Security has gained an environmental standard. The company has been awarded ISO 14001 environmental management system (EMS),

an internationally-recognised certificate accreditation that guarantees a quality approach to environmental management.

The fact that the Rochester-based business has been operating within the framework of the standard over the last couple of years stood it in good stead when it came to the environmental audit the guard firm reports.

To secure ISO 14001, Ward Security had to prove that it could meet a number of exacting environmental requirements.

These included providing company-wide training to all of its staff on green issues and documenting and implementing energy efficiency.

Ward already implements a ‘lights out’ policy, monitors all driving activities, and proactively recycles waste materials.

A number of environmentally-efficient plans have been introduced, such as reducing CO2 emissions, reducing paper and printer usage and ensuring that there is no environmental impact caused by dog foul. “Ward Security management demonstrated a strong commitment to delivering an effective management system for environmental management and are commended on their dedication to implementing this system,” said the auditor’s report.

For Ward’s Associate Director, Compliance and IT, Nikhil Khamboj, the accreditation is testament to the firm’s progressive approach.

He said: “We are delighted to have achieved the ISO 14001 standard, and it is significant that we are one only a handful of security companies to be recognised in this way. This accreditation is yet another example of Ward Security’s ongoing commitment to best practice and shows our environmental responsibility and commitment.

“Without doubt, ISO 14001 adds another string to our bow. It gives us an edge over our competitors and it is particularly rewarding to see a cultural shift among staff towards greener thinking.”
