Door Entry

Abbey access control

by Mark Rowe

An access control and entry phone system at Westminster Abbey’s Song School has been installed by Chubb Fire & Security Ltd.

Fire and security systems from Chubb have been in use at the location for more than 30 years. The Song School, set in the Abbey precincts, educates about 30 boys who sing as choristers in the Abbey Choir.

Chubb has equipped the school with an access control and door entry system to ensure that only those authorised are able to enter. This is integral to the site’s existing intruder system, which Chubb monitors 24/7.

Garry Evanson, head of security and emergency planning, Westminster Abbey, said: “Chubb’s expert knowledge and recognised customer focus are major factors in the longevity of the contract we have had together,” he said. “We have always worked with one point of contact and it is this trust, as well as the ease and speed of resolving any issues we may have, that are the bedrock of the excellent service we receive.”
