Uniview at IFSEC

by Mark Rowe

Pictured left to right are Roy Cooper, the MD of Professional Security Magazine, and Jesstin Zhou, the general manager, international business department, at Zhejiang Uniview Technologies. They met at the Chinese company’s stand at IFSEC 2014. Roy did an interview at the stand to learn more about Uniview.

The company has an IT and telecoms background, and has been in the security market since 2005. Uniview has been an independent company since 2011. One of the big differences between Uniview and other Chinese companies, he suggested, is that it’s been focused on IP since the beginning. He stressed the company’s focus on innovation and achievements; it has a number of patents. For example it launched a PTZ dome network camera with an infra-red laser in the dome, able to see to a distance of up to 500m. That product also has IP67 rating against water and dust.

Roy asked next about the company’s route to market in the UK. It’s Uniview’s first year of trading overseas and 2014 was the first time that the company was at IFSEC. It would like to sell through local partners in the UK, and is open to ideas; it’s seeking partners, whether installers or distributors or OEM.

The company, which certainly had a sizeable stand at the ExCeL, plans to return to the UK and wants to develop its UK market. Its products include network and digital recorders, analogue products, storage devices and software. As for size of system, that can range from four-channel products for the small and medium enterprise (SME) to its work on the Safe City project in its home city of Hangzhou.
