HD video quad display monitoring

by Mark Rowe

New from Ovation Systems is FourSight-DVI, a HD video quad display monitoring system. Designed for fixed and portable installations, it enables up to four PAL or NTSC cameras to be viewed on a single high resolution LCD display. It’s available at around half of the cost of traditional multi-view systems, according to the makers.

David Millar, Sales and Marketing Director of Ovation Systems, says: “FourSight-DVI provides organisations using legacy standard definition cameras with a cost effective, high quality video monitoring solution for a fraction of the price of traditional multi-view systems without having to upgrade to new equipment. We expect there to be significant interest from customers around the globe which will help to consolidate our reputation for developing innovative video surveillance solutions that deliver high levels of performance and a rapid return on investment.”

The product has four BNC input connectors which allow standard definition legacy cameras to be connected to HD monitors without it is claimed the loss of quality seen by users of traditional video quads which must reduce the resolution of each input to show more than one camera per screen. This is achieved by processing the standard definition feeds into a single high-resolution DVI (or HDMI) output and mapping pixels on a one-for-one basis to an HD screen with real-time updates for each channel.

In the default mode, the product shows all four video inputs as a quad allowing all the cameras to be monitored at once. If required, users can switch to a full screen view for each camera. A further four modes can be selected to display different combinations of the camera feeds on the output screen.

Ovation Systems’ new monitoring solution autosenses PAL or NTSC video inputs for configuration and deployment. It also automatically configures itself for operation with most high-resolution monitors and supports resolutions from 1024 x 768 pixels to 1920 x 1080.

FourSight-DVI is DC powered and can be specified as a free-standing unit or PCB for integration into third party OEM products. The standalone unit measures 160 x 90 x 25 mm, and is housed in a robust anodised aluminium casing. Visit www.ovation.co.uk.
