LED floodlight wins award

by Mark Rowe

A new smart security floodlight won a Redditch company the Best New Product award at a ceremony hosted by SELECT, the Scottish electrotechnical trade association.

ESP, which has been supplying security products to the electrical industry for more than 20 years, won for its GuardCam Deco, a combined wifi security camera and LED floodlight system. The unit can detect an intruder at a distance of up to 10 metres, light up the area, initiate a video recording and provide an option for remote monitoring and two-way communication from a smartphone or tablet.

Dave Forrester, SELECT’s Head of Technical Services, said: “Innovation and customer-focused product development has always been a priority for SELECT members and ESP is a worthy winner in this hard-fought category. It was abundantly clear that ESP had spent a lot of time considering how the GuardCam Deco system could be installed easily and safely and how it would provide a seamless service for the end user.

“The system allows the owners of premises, whether domestic or commercial, to be proactive in the protection measures they take and to benefit from a set-up which acts as a positive and visible deterrent.”

The award was presented by Gerald O’Hare, of award sponsor City Electrical Factors, at a gathering at the Radisson Blu in the centre of Glasgow on Friday night, October 12.

The evening was hosted by Shereen Nanjiani, the Scottish radio and television personality, and was attended by companies from major electrical enterprises to local firms. AICO, of Shropshire, and Manrose, of Berkshire, were also nominated. AICO’s heat and carbon dioxide alarm was highly commended.

ESP is a Scolmore Group company which offers electronic security and fire detection systems including CCTV, access control and video door entry.
