Radar for traffic management

by Mark Rowe

Navtech Radar, a manufacturer of Radar based Automatic Incident Detection (AID) products for traffic management use, will be exhibiting their ClearWay Automatic Incident Detection (AID) system at Gulf Traffic, in Dubai, from December 8 to 10.

ClearWay provides vehicle and pedestrian incident detection using patented radar technology on roads, tunnels and bridges. The system is now in use in the UK, Sweden, Norway, Italy and Australia. The product is also on trials in Austria, Switzerland, Finland, Canada, US, Slovenia, Turkey, Argentina, and South Korea.

Working with PTZ cameras for surface road applications, ClearWay improves detection capability in hazardous conditions (such as heavy fog or dust/sand storms) and reduces total installation and maintenance costs, providing it’s claimed an enhancement over traditional vision technologies.

Navtech is working with Traffic Tech Gulf, a Qatari provider of ITS, to address the Qatar ITS Expressway market, and is now seeking more partners in the Gulf; at the exhibition, Navtech will actively be seeking partners in Saudi Arabia; Oman; Bahrain and Kuwait. Visit www.navtechradar.com.
