Malaysia Airlines speaker

by Mark Rowe

Dr Hugh Dunleavy, former commercial director at Malaysia Airlines, will be the keynote speaker for the third annual Crisis Management Conference (CMC), on Tuesday, September 15.

Dr Dunleavy will share his experience of responding to the disappearance of flight MH370 and the shooting down of flight MH17 over Ukraine. These two crises – different and yet so similar in their tragic outcomes – were two of the most high-profile and challenging crises of recent times. Having worked at the heart of each response, Dr Dunleavy will provide an account of the challenges of such emotional and dynamic situations. He will share how the response was managed behind the scenes and the lessons learnt in crisis leadership and management.

CMC is a one-day event that brings together crisis management, crisis communication and business continuity figures to hear how organisations are preparing to protect their people, performance and reputation. Other speakers will include those from BAE Systems, CERN, Deutsche Bank, Marks & Spencer and the UK Department of Business, Skills and Innovation.

Trends, opportunities and issues in crisis preparedness and response will also be presented with the publication of the annual Crisis Management Insights Report, collated from a survey of more than 150 crisis management professionals.

Conference chairman, Dominic Cockram said: “we are delighted that Dr Dunleavy will be joining us as a keynote speaker for CMC 2015. Dr Dunleavy’s address will offer delegates a fascinating and unparalleled first-hand perspective of how a crisis response plays out. We look forward to gaining a unique insight into how a range of global organisations are protecting their people, future performance and reputation from the impact of crises through effective crisis management strategies”.

CMC 2015 will run at 200 Aldersgate, London, EC1A 4HD. It will be held under the Chatham House Rule. See the full programme and register at http://www.steelhenge.co.uk/crisis-management-conference.
