Disklok in Halfords

by Mark Rowe

The Disklok, which has attained Thatcham category 3 (mechanical devices) quality assurance certification, has been sold through Halfords online exclusively over the last two years. Sales have increased every month due to rises in vehicle crime. Now Halfords is putting more emphasis on vehicle security and providing more products in store – including Disklok, a steering wheel lock for cars and light commercial vehicles.

Disklok, based at Chorley, Lancashire, is a a Secured by Design (SBD) member company. Matt Higginson, Sales Director, said: “Over the years we have had a long business relationship with Halfords and we are pleased that they are putting more emphasis on vehicle security and are making it a much bigger section in store.

“This is a big deal for us. We are building up the production scale to cope with an expected increase in demand. We are looking forward to a continuing increase in sales. We are excited and incredibly proud to be associated with Secured by Design and we hope their accreditation will open more doors for potential sales growth.”

Hazel Goss, Development Officer, Secured by Design, said: “Disklok is a simple and effective way to protect your vehicle. The way it wraps around the steering wheel and locks is a very visible and obvious deterrent for vehicle thieves as well as being a durable product that can stand the test of time.”

The Disklok can cover a steering wheel of between 35cm and 44cm in diameter. Once fitted, it can spin on the wheel, preventing steering and damage to the vehicle’s own steering wheel lock as well as being a visible deterrent to keyless entry theft.

Disklok, with its all steel construction, has been approved and endorsed by Thatcham over the last 20 years, exceeding all of their minimum security requirements.

Here are two videos clips that explain Disklok.
