What’s new at Buckinghamshire New

by Mark Rowe

Phil Wood, pictured, Head of the Department of Security and Resilience (and Computing) at Buckinghamshire New University, reports developments.

His Department of Security and Resilience is now the provider of the Certified Security Consultant (CSC) programme, previously run by Anubis Associates Limited. The course remains as offered by Anubis and retains its academic credits. Students enrolled onto the CSC, or who have completed Module One, will be able to continue under the new ownership arrangements. Bucks New has recruited the course leader, Simon King, to deliver the CSC.

The Department is now responsible for Crowd Management degrees, with the University’s International Centre for Crowd Management and Security Studies, which covers safety and security for large events. The Department will focus primarily on the Foundation Degree and BA(Hons) top up programmes in Crowd Safety Management. The Department will begin planning a Masters degree in Crowded Places Security and Safety (working title).

Phil Wood says: “These developments in our reach and capability offer the chance for resilience and event safety and security professionals and their organisations to develop, network and grow knowledge and capability.”
