SSAIB choose Tavcom

by Mark Rowe

Tavcom Training has been chosen by the certification body SSAIB as its preferred supplier of security systems training. The 1500-plus installation companies certificated by SSAIB will now have access via the inspection body’s website to Tavcom online courses covering access control, intruder alarms, CCTV and IP network issues. The website also highlights an option available via Tavcom, to achieve the City & Guilds Security Systems NVQ and underpinning knowledge qualifications. SSAIB members will also receive a 20 per cent discount on all Tavcom classroom and workshop based training courses at its Bishops Waltham, Hampshire training centre.

As a UK fire, security and telecare certification body, Tyne and Wear-based SSAIB offers a range of schemes for providers of electronic security systems with the objective of promoting high standards and providing recognition for those companies which achieve them.

Geoff Tate, Chief Executive of SSAIB, said: “SSAIB passionately believes that it is imperative for all companies operating in the professional security arena to provide access to training for all staff and particularly for those responsible for the design, installation and maintenance of security and safety systems. Professionally developed and delivered training is essential to any business wishing to succeed in today’s world and SSAIB has no hesitation in fully supporting the professional training courses developed and delivered by Tavcom.”

The Tavcom online ‘distance learning’ training courses approved by SSAIB offer an alternative to traditional classroom style courses, allowing students to acquire new skills without having to come ‘off the road’, and learn at their own pace and in their own time.

Paul Tennent, Managing Director of Tavcom, said: “We are naturally delighted that, following an evaluation process, SSAIB has decided to approve our training programmes and provide an opportunity for us to promote them to SSAIB members. It is a very welcome vote of confidence in our ability to provide first class education for anyone involved in the electronic security industry. The 20pc discount in relation to our classroom courses is a significant incentive for SSAIB members, although we anticipate that the online distance learning courses will particularly attract their attention as they enable security professionals to acquire career enhancing bespoke qualifications without any disruption to their day-to-day working life.”
