Crisis management date

by Mark Rowe

Now in its third year, CMC 2015 is once again bringing together crisis managers from the corporate world and government to share their insights and experience of how their leaders and teams prepare for, respond to, and recover from crises.

Why is this conference relevant to industry? This past year saw crises ranging across businesses such as ASOS, the Bank of England, Honda, Tesco and Sony Pictures with cyber-attacks, industrial accidents, product recalls, system failures and performance mismanagement being just a few of the problems faced. These companies and their leadership have been scrutinised by the media, the public and other stakeholders under the intense spotlight of the crisis more than ever before. Whether the problem originates from an operational incident, performance failure, compliance or policy issue, every crisis requires both internal and external leadership excellence to ensure success. As one of the key skills in a strategic crisis response, effective crisis leadership is essential to successful resolution and recovery. Confirmed speakers include:

• Claire Entwistle, Office of the Chief Information Officer, BAE Systems
• Richard Bach, Assistant Director of Cyber, Department of Business, Innovation and Skills
• Simon Baird, Deputy Director of Engineering, CERN
• Katie Wiggins, Global Operations Manager, Crisis Management, Deutsche Bank
• Catherine Steele, Head of Pharma Communications, Novartis; and
• John Frost, Head of Business Continuity, Marks & Spencer

CMC 2015 will be on Tuesday, September 15 at 200 Aldersgate, London, EC1A 4HD.

Conference chairman, Dominic Cockram said: “CMC provides an excellent forum for those wanting to discuss the latest developments in Crisis Management thinking. We look forward to gaining a unique insight into how a range of global organisations are protecting their people, future performance and reputation from the impact of crises through effective crisis management strategies.” The conference will be held under the Chatham House Rule to promote freedom of discussion.
