Some companies have problems retaining staff, but at Pyronix in Rotherham, South Yorkshire many of the staff don’t seem to want to leave.
At a recent annual event this summer Pyronix had 19 members of staff celebrating either 10 or 20 years’ service. The company founder and Chief Executive, Julie Kenny CBE DL said “Since we started this company in 1986, we have tried hard to maintain a family ethos in the company, although with significant growth maintaining that atmosphere becomes increasingly difficult. However, at times like these, when I look around at my colleagues and friends who have supported the company through thick and thin – I am so proud that so many people have stayed with us for such a long time.”
Since Pyronix was founded 26 years ago the company has been keen to employ local people and to invest in their training and development. Low levels of employee retention can have a negative effect on the performance of a company, but a company which values its employees is rewarded with their loyalty. 55% of Pyronix staff has been with the company for over 10 years.
