FM Academy

by msecadm4921

FM firm Romec has introduced an academy for training its new engineering line managers who are mainly promoted from within the organisation’s technician grades.

"The intention," says Customer Service Director ‘ East Region Gary Mills, "is to ensure that our new managers are supported throughout their first 12 months with training in subjects that are possibly new to them but which will play an important role in their managerial responsibilities." Subjects including finance, contracts, health and safety legislation, communications and IT will be presented in module form by external trainers and existing managers from within the company, who will focus on ten new managers at a time within a rolling 12-month programme.

"There will be a strong practical element to the modules," added Gary Mills, "so that the people involved can immediately apply their training to the job." Additionally the modules are also designed to develop the individual and team management skills of the participants, the firm says.
