CCTV survey

by Mark Rowe

How do people go about finding information about CCTV? The Office of the Surveillance Camera Commissioner is working with British Standards Institution (BSI) and a research company to carry out some qualitative and quantatitve research around CCTV information requirements and support.

The researchers have already carried out some in depth interviews with CCTV operators, installers, manufacturers, law enforcement and so on – their next stage is a survey. The aim; to get responses from a range of organisations.

The Commissioner, the former senior policeman Tony Porter, pictured, said: “The standards and information framework for CCTV is horribly complex. My standards group has been working hard to look at how we can simplify it. Whilst we’re making some headway this piece of research lead by BSI will really help inform how we can continue to make things easier for people who use CCTV day in and day out. I’d urge anyone with an interest in CCTV to complete it.”
