Briefly, ProtectED is a membership scheme of universities that aim to raise student safety, security and well-being standards across UK higher education. OCS will support ProtectED in safeguarding the student experience, sharing insight and promoting improved practice.
ProtectED Director, Brian Nuttall said: “I’m delighted to welcome OCS as a ProtectED Trusted Partner. This global organisation built on family values and a strong sense of community is an ideal partner for ProtectED and aligns well with our principles. We look forward to working alongside OCS in the development of ProtectED and in improving standards in the higher education sector and beyond.”
And Ian Nisbet, Managing Director Healthcare and Education at OCS Group UK Ltd, said: “We are delighted to announce our Trusted Partner status with ProtectED. The wellbeing, safety and security of students is at the forefront of our service delivery model and this partnership will allow OCS to align our policies, processes and delivery to an award-winning, nationally recognised accreditation scheme. We look forward to working closely with ProtectED to deliver tangible benefits to our current and future customers.”
The November print edition of Professional Security magazine most recently featured the scheme, when the head of security at the University of Salford – one of the founder members of ProtectED – Trevor Jones spoke at a ProtectED webinar on campus security. Trevor is a past speaker at Professional Security magazine’s ST Manchester series of events, and chairs the association of university chiefs of security, Aucso. As that implies, ProtectED is about benchmarking an institution not only in terms of the physical security of students – and staff and visitors – but their more general, financial and mental, well-being.
