Central HD at university

by Mark Rowe

University West of Scotland (UWS) has four campuses across the west coast of Scotland, from Ayr, Dumfries and Hamilton to Paisley. All were running their own security systems, The university sought a centralised approach to the control and maintenance of its security estate.

The Scottish-based installer Boston Networks reviewed each of the uni’s systems, across multiple campuses, to produce a migration plan. An initial phase of the migration included the install of extra IP cameras from Axis Communications across key indoor and outdoor areas of the Paisley site.

Boston Networks then began the integration of 200-plus IP cameras and the consolidation of the video management software (VMS, pictured) platforms to the centralised monitoring station, at the Paisley campus. The software was then upgraded to a single Milestone XProtect Expert platform. The Axis IP cameras and Milestone XProtect Expert software provides HD quality footage and can control the university’s, multi-campus CCTV in a single system.

Boston Networks add that they continue to work with the university to maintain the new system. The company based in Glasgow also has offices in Edinburgh, Bolton and Team Valley, Gateshead. For the full case study visit – http://www.bostonnetworks.co.uk/img/boston/UWOS.pdf.
