The Liverpool Crime Team at Liverpool Chamber of Commerce recently had a successful external audit, retaining their Safer Business Award.

Tony Jopson, Business Crime Reduction Manager for the Liverpool Crime Team, said: “This audit is extremely important to us as it reinforces the confidence our partners can have in us and demonstrates the integrity of our systems and protocols and the benefit of adhering to high professional standards.”  Liverpool Crime Alert is the city centre crime reduction initiative provided by the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Merseyside Police, the Central BID Company and the city centre businesses.

Some 300 city centre business premises participate in the scheme, comprising large and small retail outlets, hotels, museums, galleries, car parks and public and commercial buildings. The scheme has produced excellent results by reducing actual reported crime, and by reducing the opportunity for persistent offenders to commit crime.

As a recipient of the Safer Business Award (SBA), the Liverpool Crime Team is subject to an external audit every three years. The Association of Business Crime Partnerships (ABCP), who developed and currently sponsor the Safer Business Award, carried out the external audit at the Chamber offices.
