The Spinning Gate Shopping Centre in Leigh has made The ExcluSec Group its dual services provider, in a three-year contract. This follows the contractor’s 12 month security contract at the centre in 2018.
Spinning Gate, pictured, hosts 40 retail units within 110,000 sq ft of retail space in Leigh town centre. The centre sits between the flat surface on site car park (operated by Wigan Council) and the town’s bus station, which has direct links into Manchester city centre. The centre also runs in parallel to the town’s high street Bradshawgate. The centre, open seven days and hosting four million shopper visits a year, is privately owned by Atmore Group Ltd who appoint Legat Owen as managing agents.
North West based-ExcluSec provide the centre with 10,000 security hours and 8,400 cleaning hours annually. The centre’s SIA licensed security officers continue their employ with The ExcluSec Group and are continuing their training and development. The on site security team besides minimising retail crime, offer customer service, retailer liaison and assisting with first aid incidents.
The centre’s cleaning team has transferred to ExcluSec under TUPE and will also complete training and development including a company induction, refresher and customer service training. The centre cleaners have a new cleaning uniform, dual branded with The ExcluSec Group and Spinning Gate. The cleaning team provide a service front of house, ensuring the daily cleaning of 1,377 sq meters of mall ceramic floor tiles using a Tennant T3 scrubber dryer cleaning machine. Back of house they’re cleaning and maintaining the service yard and centres service corridors; and provide a waste management service, collecting and processing waste from centre stores. Last year the team collected and processed over 107,000kg of waste, all diverted from landfill.
