River Cottage secured

by msecadm4921

The TV celebrity chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage base in Devon, which was the scene of a fire, has had installed a fire and security system. Flames engulfed the converted River Cottage barn, dating back to 1610, at the site in Axminster in February, forcing Hugh’s team to erect a marquee so they could carry on hosting events and cookery training.

Plymouth-based fire and security contractor Securi-Guard – which covers Devon and Cornwall and across the rest of the south west region – has fitted an intruder alarm with smoke detection to the marquee area, and the general offices at the site.  A wireless radio link has also been installed in the marquee, which links back to the system in the general offices, enabling it to be independently zoned on the main system.

As well as being monitored from the site itself, both the intruder and smoke detection systems are also monitored round the clock via the Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) at Securi-Guard at Estover.

Martin Demuth, a Business Development Manager for the Technical Systems Team at Securi-Guard, said: “The fire at River Cottage’s base caused extensive damage so we obviously wanted to ensure we provided a system that would give Hugh and his team complete peace of mind and the all-round protection they were looking for.”

Securi-Guard has already installed a security system at the new River Cottage Canteen and Deli in Plymouth, which is also owned by the celebrity chef. The company worked with shopfitters Crane Interiors on the new high profile restaurant, which opened at the city’s Royal William Yard at the end of last year.

Engineers installed a monitored intruder alarm system and digital CCTV, which can be viewed off-site, thus enabling the client to access the cameras’ images from an office or home computer.
