Plymouth control room

by Mark Rowe

Earlier this year, the Hampshire-based control room furniture company Thinking Space returned to a previous installation, in Devon; the control room of Plymouth City Council.

In 2015, the council re-located and upgraded its main CCTV control room as the previous control room in the Mayflower car park in the city centre was to make way for a new coach station. An unused kitchen beneath Council House, was refurbished to hold the control room. Thinking Space delivered a curved three-operator console, with radio equipment pods on the desk surface. A large media wall to accommodation a dozen 47-inch screens was the focus of the room, towards creating an ergonomic working environment, important for monitoring staff working shifts. A further Evolution Media Wall was provided in the Radio Traffic office.
