Infosecurity survey

by Mark Rowe

Infosecurity Europe, the conference and exhibition, has launched its industry survey, titled ‘Intelligent security: Protect. Detect. Respond. Recover’. That’s the theme for the event’s 20th anniversary, in London from June 2 to 4, 2015. The study targets IT and security people and will identify trends and common practice in regions. The survey will provide a snapshot of the challenges the industry is facing, including:

· What are the biggest perceived risks facing the industry and priorities for the information security sector – is it the big stories that have made the news that worry our practitioners or the day-to-day threats facing organisations?

· How are organisations protecting themselves against the latest threats?

· How long is it taking organisations to detect breaches and do they have the structure in place to respond and recover rapidly?

· Are companies shifting their investment/focus to give more priority to incident response and recovery because they are likely to be breached or is prevention still the priority?

Victoria Windsor, content manager at Infosecurity Group at Reed Exhibitions, said: “No longer is information security just about protecting the network against attacks – it is about building resilience within an organisation to ensure measures are in place to respond and recover rapidly to minimise business impact in the event of a breach. The study is a collaborative effort with the key industry associations and European media to help the industry identify what strategies, tactics and techniques organisations are adopting to bolster their security posture and to ensure that they can detect attacks, respond and recover effectively when things go wrong.”

And Joy-Fleur Brettschneider, group marketing manager, Infosecurity Group at Reed Exhibitions, said: “At Infosecurity Europe we strive to facilitate relevant content from the industry for the industry. ‘Intelligent security: Protect. Detect. Respond. Recover’ serves as the core event theme in 2015, offering numerous content tracks providing business-critical insight to information security professionals at all levels. Last year’s survey covered the theme ‘security as a business enabler’ and was very popular. With 1,149 international respondents taking part, the report highlighted the increasing importance of information security to business strategy and we are hoping to achieve an even greater response rate this time. We are grateful for the support of all our partners and hope to produce a meaningful study leveraging the strength of our networks.”

The survey is available in English, German French and will be closed on Monday, January 19. Participation is anonymous and data will only be used to distribute the finalised report to participants.
