Front-of-house service

by Mark Rowe

Acuity, the front-of-house division of the contractor Axis Group, reports a new contract to provide reception and meeting management services for investment bank Daiwa Capital Markets Europe and its wholly owned subsidiary DC Advisory (DCA).

Acuity’s appointment unifies Daiwa and DCA’s front-of-house service where formerly the receptionists had specific company responsibilities, though occupying the same reception foyer. It also complements the work of its sister company, Axis Security, which has been providing security services to Daiwa since 2014.

Yoshiko Miwa, Facilities Manager at Daiwa, says: “Prior to Acuity, neither receptionist had any crossover of duties, creating a detached atmosphere in the reception area that did not present a good first impression.”

Now, two receptionists, one promoted in-house to team leader, assume the front-of-house operation, providing two shifts that cover 7.30am to 6pm, Mondays to Fridays. Besides meeting and greeting visitors, the receptionists manage the meeting rooms and act as lobby ambassadors. For consistency of service, site-specific training has been given to members of the Acuity Select Team, that provide cover for planned and unplanned absences.

The team also works with its colleagues in Axis Security, who provide a supervisor and security officer on weekdays and out of hours.

Yoshiko adds: “We personally interviewed the Acuity candidates, selecting two receptionists that best fitted our company’s principles and ethics. And our guests, potential clients and employees are very happy with Acuity’s professional yet friendly demeanour.”

Chiara di Rienzo, Acuity’s Operations Director, says that Acuity’s teams aim to deliver a five-star hotel experience: “This is a perfect example of two services supplied by Axis Group companies bringing together their specialist expertise and complementing each other to ensure the best results for our clients.”
