Door access for cosmetic surgery practice

by Mark Rowe

A private cosmetic surgery practice moved to a converted Georgian period property in Birmingham. It sought to let visitors into the main reception area while it restricted access to consultation and treatment rooms and post-procedure recovery areas, to secure the high value assets and medication.

The cosmetic surgery besides controlling access wanted to manage access remotely at all hours, via computer, tablet or smartphone, without necessarily an on-site administrator. IGNIS Fire Protection Services installed the Inception access control and intruder detection system from Inner Range.

The product has a web-based interface that can be controlled by authorised staff using smartphones, tablets or computers. Entry through doors is fob-activated. The product has various entry points starting at two or four doors and 16 users and can be expanded if required up to 32 doors and 512 users. Universal inputs and outputs can be used independently of each other, to directly control door locks and powered sirens modules. Secured alarm communication is using 128Bit AES encryption for data privacy. IGNIS installed Inception using its interactive ‘commissioning checklist that covers core programming, custom automation, changing default credentials, backing up the database and downloading commissioning reports. The installing technicians doesn’t need to find an IP address or connect to the user’s local network. They can also use an adaptor as a service tool to do maintenance on site.

Gary Carr, Account Manager at IGNIS, said: “Inception is simple and easy to install and it makes any project cost effective. The user interface is an innovative piece of design that allows any part of the system to be controlled from any PC or smartphone with internet connectivity. This makes it easy for a client to offload security administration on to the maintenance firm or any third party for that matter.”
