BID offers property marking

by Mark Rowe

Team London Bridge, the Business Improvement District (BID) for the London Bridge area, has introduced a property marking product for businesses in its area.

The BID is seeking to combat commercial burglary by offering its businesses forensic marking kits for their office equipment. The SelectaDNA kits consist of a synthetic DNA solution which users can apply to kit such as computers, TVs, mobile phones and cameras. Signage at the premises and on the items also serve as a deterrent. If stolen items are later recovered by police, the unique identifying code means the property can be returned to its original owner and the thief linked directly to a crime scene.

Team London Bridge’s aim is to have a high density of businesses in their area (between London Bridge and just past Tower Bridge) protected by SelectaDNA, to make the district less attractive for would-be thieves. Henry Johnstone, Business and Operations Manager at Team London Bridge said: “Improving safety and security for our business community has always been one of our top priorities and I strongly encourage our members to take advantage of the offer.”
