Workforce Management

Satellite device

A lone worker product company has added a satellite device to its range to protect vulnerable staff working anywhere. StaySafe is now integrated with the Garmin inReach satellite device to offer businesses a way to safeguard staff who work in remote areas.

StaySafe offer a range of lone worker safety products for businesses looking to meet their duty of care to employees. With inReach, StaySafe is now able to offer protection on oceans, airways and polar regions.

Garmin inReach is a small satellite communications device which offers global coverage through Iridium’s satellite network. Location tracking allows remote workers to be monitored from the StaySafe Hub, while an SOS panic allows them to signal for help in an emergency. If a panic alert is triggered on the device, StaySafe will notify a monitor at once, for an organisation to take action.

The device also helps lone workers to navigate in extremely remote areas, with features including a compass, weather reports, satellite mapping and a digital breadcrumb. A long battery life ensures users are reliably protected, lasting up to 100 hours in tracking mode or 30 days in power saving mode. Designed to survive harsh environments, inReach is described as waterproof, buoyant and impact-resistant. A device can be worn on a lanyard or mounted to a vehicle.

Don Cameron, CEO StaySafe says: “Using the StaySafe app on a satellite device means the worry of keeping track of staff in mobile blackspots is a thing of the past. Utilising satellite coverage allows us to offer employers a lone worker device that can monitor employee safety anywhere in the world, with no reduction in functionality or accuracy. Plus, as the satellite devices can be monitored within the same online Hub as regular smartphone StaySafe users, employers can keep track of all staff in one place using the device that is most suitable for each individual employee.”
