PIR product deal

Luminite, the UK-based manufacturer of Genesis passive infra-red (PIR) detection products, announces a distribution agreement with Midwich Security.

Graham Creek, pictured, Managing Director of Luminite, says: “Midwich is a £200m-plus turnover trade distributor of security, audio visual, print, digital imaging and consumer electronics, supplying many of the world’s leading brands. It provides an exceptional distribution and logistics service and also offers system design, pre-configuration, commissioning and IP training for customers. Midwich can therefore offer support to installers with larger applications, integrated systems and network-based security requirements. Midwich is an ideal distribution partner for Luminite, as Genesis PIR detection solutions include wired and wireless stand-alone systems through to integrated, network-based applications using our IP Masthead.”

Carl Hayesmore, Technical Manager at Midwich, adds: “Luminite’s PIR detection systems are unique. They can be integrated with many leading CCTV manufacturer’s recording and control equipment, such as Panasonic, and VMS providers like IMMIX. Critical alarm and tamper data, including intrusion detection, anti-shock and anti-cloaking are separated from system management alerts, like low PIR battery strength and weak wireless signals. This means alarm responses can be more appropriate, from a police call-out for genuine intrusions through to routine maintenance visits from installers for battery changes. The Genesis system allows multiple PIR detectors to be mapped to each video channel in a CCTV system and an electronic “health-check” tests each PIR is working correctly every few seconds. PIR system intelligence of this type significantly increases the effectiveness and efficiency of CCTV systems, whilst reducing the likelihood of false alarms.”

Battery power and wireless communications mean no wiring between the PIR detectors and control equipment is required. Up to 64 PIRs can be set up in each wireless system at up to 1km away from the IP Masthead transceiver. You can ring Luminite on 020 8368 7887 or visit luminite.co.uk for more information.
