Lone worker firm in name change

by Mark Rowe

The lone worker protection product company, Connexion2, is to be renamed SoloProtect. Meanwhile the firm reports work on a custom built UK ARC (alarm receiving centre) and increasing operations in mainland Europe.

The purpose-built ARC is within a new 10,000 square foot head office, in Sheffield. The firm adds that the site will be the first in the UK to be audited against BS8591 – the forthcoming British Standard for alarm receiving centres (due to replace BS5979) and the new European standard, EN 50518. Once operational, all ARC support services for UK SoloProtect customers will be provided through the facility.

Connexion2, formed in 2003, makes the Identicom lone worker device – a discreet ID-badge. More than 150,000 of the devices have now shipped. In 2013, the company was acquired by US-based emergency communications product company, Kings III. Since then the parent company has launched a SoloProtect US division, and European operations have expanded into the Netherlands, Germany and France. A SoloProtect New Zealand division is launching this year.

Craig Swallow, Managing Director of SoloProtect UK and EU said: “Naturally, this is a hugely exciting project. One that enables us to work even more closely with our customers, giving greater control to deliver tailored solutions to clients. Whilst a move like this is naturally a boost for all of our staff, our key focus remains on facilitating a great lone worker service and fulfilling our Customer Promise. We’re delighted with the support shown by our parent company, and their vision for SoloProtect to be a genuine international provider of credible lone worker solutions. Something that we believe is a first in our market place.”

SoloProtect is exhibiting at the Safety & Health Expo on stand L2100 in June.
