Indoor speed dome

by Mark Rowe

VIVOTEK has launched its latest indoor speed dome network camera, the SD8161, pictured. Offering 1080p Full HD resolution and an 18x optical zoom lens and pan/tilt mechanism, the SD8161 is suitable the Taiwanese makers say for indoor spaces at airports, train stations, stadiums, and lobbies.

The dome offers WDR Enhancement; this wide dynamic range enables the camera to cope with high contrast light, and generate image quality close to the capabilities of the human eye, the firm says. As with VIVOTEK’s latest speed dome network cameras, the SD8161’s pan/tilt mechanism, provides it’s claimed precise movement with continuous 360-degree pan and 220-degree tilt. The user can monitor and track any object of interest via a mouse or a joystick.

With built-in auto tracking feature, the dome is able to automatically identify suspicious moving objects in open areas before the user might notice these events. And an audio detection function can trigger instant alerts whenever ambient audio differs from usual conditions.

Tim Su, Director, Marketing Communication Department, VIVOTEK said: “To make surveillance in wide open areas more clear, precise and effective, VIVOTEK, in the past year, has put great effort and resources into developing a series of speed dome network cameras with excellent image process technologies and sophisticated pan/tilt mechanism. Today, we are pleased to provide the market with the SD8161, a speed dome especially designed for indoor applications. Beside the abovementioned great features, few more advanced features like SD/SDHC/SDXC card slot, 802.3at compliant PoE Plus and 30 fps high quality video mean that the SD8161 is the best choice for the most demanding indoor surveillance applications.” Visit www.vivotek.com.
