Property deal

Axis Security is providing security services to some 163 sites managed by the property consultancy JLL. Axis says that it’s working with Evolution, the electronic security and fire systems installer. The contract includes key-holding, manned guarding and mobile patrols, plus system security maintenance. Total man hours needed to service the two of seven regions included in the contract (the Midlands, and South West and Wales) are more than 9,000, requiring some 220 security officers; 200 were transferred to Axis under TUPE in nine weeks.

Susan Hersee, Regional Facilities Manager at JLL, says the property firm’s goal was to create a lasting relationship with the supplier: “We wanted to create a genuine partnership with a company that would support our company ethos: delivering a best-in-class customer centric service; supporting our sustainable procurement goals; providing a fully compliant service; using performance measurement to mitigate risk and deliver contract excellence; and delivering innovation and continuous improvement to ensure optimum cost efficiencies.”

The competitive tender included some of the largest contract security firms. Susan says Axis was chosen because it demonstrated that it is approachable, flexible and was honest about what was achievable: “We have shared goals and objectives, and both parties recognise that a partnership approach is the best way of ensuring those goals are achieved.”

David Mundell, Managing Director of Axis Security, says: “We have created a bespoke management structure, including a dedicated help desk, a senior management team for each region, and three additional mobile vehicles to support the smooth running of the account.

“Demonstrating our commitment to training has also been very important. Acumen, Axis’ online training portal, has been rolled out across the entire contract; it includes modular videos tailored to JLL, and tests to ensure training content is relevant, interactive and measurable.”
