Living Wage accreditation

by Mark Rowe

The Living Wage Foundation has formally accredited two Axis Group companies, recognising its support of the Living Wage and to further best practice in the industry.

Axis Security, the UK security services contractor, is now a Recognised Service Provider. That means that it’s committed to not only pay its head office staff the Living Wage but also promote the Living Wage to its clients. Sister-business Acuity provides a receptionist service to the London market and is a Living Wage employer that has, the firm adds, always paid all employees far in excess of the Living Wage.

Jonathan Levine, Axis Group’s CEO, pictured, says that good customer service is derived from employees feeling valued and motivated: “People are the lifeblood of our business, and by investing in our people we will always be a good and fair employer. Our focus is on ensuring all employees will have a good work-life balance, which in turn increases productivity and ensures the business enjoys a strong corporate reputation,” he continues. “We are extremely proud to support and be a part of this group.”

Background

The Living Wage campaign was launched in 2001 by parents in East London, who were frustrated that working two minimum wage jobs left no time for family life. The Living Wage is a voluntary hourly rate set independently and updated annually, with the Living Wage calculated according to the basic cost of living in the UK. The UK Living Wage is £8.25 an hour; and the London Living Wage is £9.40 an hour. A Living Wage campaign week runs the first week in November.
