City law firm contract

by Mark Rowe

A contract to provide the security service and a supporting receptionist role to the in-house front of house team at the international City law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges (London) LLP has gone to The Axis Group. The services will be delivered through two of the group’s brands, Axis Security and Acuity.

In tendering for a new security contract, Weil was seeking a modern security company with a more personal service. Margaret Lloyd, Head of Facilities and Front of House for Weil, said it was important that the security team was properly managed and well supported: “We do all that we can to make sure they feel part of Weil, but we wanted the right training to be in place as well as good management support from their employer.”

Margaret says that throughout the tender process, Axis showed that it puts its employees first: “We knew that they already provided security services to other law firms, so they understood the working culture of a law firm where the day never really ends. They also presented a fantastic training schedule for the officers to make sure they have the appropriate industry skills, alongside other training to really help with their personal development and career progression. It was very well thought out and a key reason for their selection.”

The benefits provided to Axis employees are well above the norm: “They include private health care,” Margaret adds, “as well as a company awards programme to recognise achievements and commitment, and access to financial support. Our security officers were aware of Axis Security’s reputation, and were very pleased with Axis’ selection.’’

Mobilisation was a key part of the challenge, but Margaret says the process went smoothly: “Nothing slipped through the net, and we had access to everyone that we needed so we all felt very confident that everything was in place from day one. Since appointing Axis Security, morale amongst the team has soared. Weil is a great firm to work for but we are pleased that they now have great management support from Axis and we can already see that they are taking advantage of the availability of training.”

Weil (pictured; their Fetter Lane, EC4A offices) has seen other benefits too, including technical solutions to support the team to carry out their duties, such as the Tracktik patrol system, and Timegate to give the security manager better visibility and control over shifts and team management. Fastfield forms will also be introduced shortly.

Axis Security has also been able to open doors for Weil to meet with other businesses in the area who share similar security concerns through the Paternoster Business Forum.

Axis Security Managing Director David Mundell says that he is pleased to provide a total service: “We are also delighted to have found a partner in Weil that is as equally eager to support the security officers and receptionist on site to reach their full potential.”
