A provider of information security consulting services to large and medium sized organisations in the public and private sector, has announced an expanded presence in the UK. Raising £5.5 million (R$28.2 million), Tempest says it will be increasing its employees to 160 across its London and Brazillian offices.
Over the last four years since they set up their UK operation in 2012, Tempest Security Intelligence says that it has seen a dramatic rise in demand from its European customers through their way of approaching threat intelligence. With attackers finding increasingly creative ways of deceiving their targets, Tempest is able to assist customers including The Economist Group, Tesco and Guardian News & Media with cyber security.
Marco Carnut, CTO of Tempest Security Intelligence, said: “In Britain, people are already very advanced in the ordinary threat protection technologies and network detection systems, but now there is a new way of approaching security which utilises mapping the threats themselves instead of trying to defend against every single threat. South America first
The Brazilian based company adds that newly emerging threats in the UK more than often have been tested in Brazil beforehand. “The bad actors in the South American region are very clever and have a creativity that is very particular to their culture. We have spent years studying them so that many new threats we see here in the UK are old news in Brazil – which definitely works to our advantage. The UK has been very receptive to our threat intelligence offerings, so we are excited to be expanding and have the ability to increase our presence here. Most of the computing systems we have today were created in a time and era when the types of attacks we see today were not so pervasive and by people who were both born and educated in that time. You can throw as much money at a problem as you want but if you don’t approach it with a fresh look you won’t accomplish much. That’s where Tempest can help,” Carnut added.
