Maritime passes

by msecadm4921

Ambrey Risk, Control Risks, Solace Global Maritime and Special Tactical Services LLC  have been announced as the latest companies to pass through the initial stage of the Security Association for the Maritime Industry (SAMI) international private maritime security company (PMSC) accreditation programme.

Each company underwent a due diligence check during stage one of the SAMI programme.  The checks applied to a range of areas of the company’s operations, to check compliance with a range of minimum standards.

The checks are in line with guidelines issued by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and ensure that legal, compliance and quality issues have been adequately addressed.

Peter Cook, Director of SAMI said, “We are pleased to announce this latest tranche of SAMI member companies to pass through the stage one of our accreditation process. Congratulations to all involved.”

He added, “The fact that companies are now accredited vindicates the work in setting the standard and the mechanism, and will increasingly provide shipowners with the reassurance they need when contracting with a security provider.”

The association says that it developed the process to provide systematic and strict checks on private maritime security companies. The process is in three stages. One is a due diligence check, stage two involves a site visit to the company headquarters to audit the systems in place, and stage three is an operational assessment of company personnel deployed onto ships.  For a list of SAMI members and more information about the association, visit: www.seasecurity.org
