Talent development

by Mark Rowe

Mayflex, the Birmingham-based distributor of converged IP products, has recently seen staff from across the company complete a 12-month Talent Development Programme (TDP). The TDP started in early 2017 and was completed in February 2018. The programme which will run with a new set of candidates in 2018-2019, looks at developing personal and business knowledge recognising that not all development is focused at heading towards an ultimate goal of becoming a manager.

Six delegates from a range of departments attended workshops covering strategic leadership, applied finance, Sonepar management training and presentation skills, besides taking part in team-building events, a volunteer day and completing a group project to present to several company directors. All of this ran alongside mentoring sessions with a company director.

Clare Lundberg, HR Director at Mayflex said: “I am delighted with how well the Talent Development Programme has been received within the business. It has been a great success with some wonderful feedback received from all those that took part. Each individual experienced a number of different benefits from the many aspects of the content delivered. Well done to all involved on the completion of the programme. We look forward to seeing each member of staff continue on their development journey.”

The firm adds that it’s also launching a Wellbeing initiative, to encourage and recognise the importance of health and general well-being on employee engagement.
