Cyber Academy

The first 30 students of the UK Cyber Academy – SANS’ eight-week, residential cyber security training course – will be attending an employer recruitment fair on October 15, for prospective employers to meet the Academy students ahead of graduation at the end of October.

The Cyber Academy by the international training body SANS featured in the October 2015 print issue of Professional Security magazine.

The students have all passed their GSEC examination – the first of three GIAC Certifications included in Cyber Academy with the class achieving an average score of 91.2 per cent.

Stephen Jones, UK Managing Director for SANS, says: “The recruitment fair is the ideal opportunity for prospective employers to meet students and see their work. During the day there will be an introduction from Academy Instructor, James Lyne, student presentations and a networking lunch. The fair is free to attend for employers and each will receive an Employer Pack in advance containing profiles of all the Cyber Academy students. In addition we will give potential employers a summary of each Cyber Academy student’s initial aptitude assessment as well as access to an online portal that tracks the progress of each student.”

Around 25,000 people took SANS’ online Cyber Aptitude and Skills Assessment earlier this year. From them, 250 were selected and invited to formally apply for a place. The application process concluded with a round of face-to-face interviews with senior SANS staff and SANS Instructors leading to formal offers made to the 30.

The Cyber Academy Employer Recruitment Fair will take place at St. David’s Hotel & Spa in Cardiff on October 15, between 11am and 3pm. To apply for an invitation to the Employer Fair or a copy of the Employer Pack, interested parties contact [email protected].
